His Drums
Víctor E. López handcrafted artisan drums that combined vibrant, contemporary colors with exclusive designs and distinctive styles. Each instrument was carefully built by hand, offering options such as the Primo (Subidor), the Buleador, and versatile Intermediate drums that could perform either role. He also crafted the traditional Cuás (wooden rhythm sticks), completing each Puerto Rican bomba ensemble.
We invite you to explore this historical gallery, featuring a selection of the drums Víctor created throughout his career as an artisan. Because every instrument was entirely handcrafted, the finish, shape, size, and details could vary slightly from one drum to another, making each one truly unique. Despite these variations, every drum was built with high-quality materials and hardware, reflecting the commitment, dedication, and craftsmanship that distinguished his work.
Today, these drums stand as the legacy of an artisan who dedicated his life to preserving and promoting the rich tradition of Puerto Rican bomba.
